Originally a small farm, Froddlecrook had fallen into considerable disrepair and had been subject to extensive poor quality alterations in its prior use as a commune, retreat and religious centre.  The assemblage of original vernacular stone and slate buildings included the half cruck farmhouse, barn and pig pens which now form separate dwellings.
